Don't worry about OBL: He sealed the deal for my mom (R) voting Kerry

I love my mom, but she is a pretty hard-core republican. She gets her fair share of Hannity and Rush, but is an intelligent woman who allows me to argue with her on all of the issues.

I don't know if it is due to my relentless hammering on Bush since July with her, or just because she's done some independent thinking, but she just informed me this evening that she will be voting for Kerry.

The main reason? She can't in her heart see herself supporting a war in which people my age (22) and my sister's age (18) are fighting and dying in large numbers for no apparent reason.

Her reaction to OBL's appearance: "Why the hell can't we find this guy?"

That was the first thing out of her mouth. I think, as another poster said, that this tape causes one to seriously examine where we've been heading since 9/11 and whether or not it is the course the country wants to take.

So, I'm proud of my mom for being so open-minded. Her vote is more anti-Bush than pro-Kerry, but I'll take it anyway :)

Oh btw, I'm from NJ. Her vote want matter all that much because despite the hemming and hawing of the republicans, there is no contest here. Kerry has it.

I'm absolutely sure the age of her children played a huge part in her decision. Good Lord, how could it not?
Parents of draft-age children and draft-age folks themselves should definitely look deep within before they even go in the booth and decide just how much they're willing to sacrifice for a tax cut.

5. My sister said almost the same thing!

My sister cares way more about football than politics but she knows I care. She has no idea of how news such as this tape is supposed to effect the election. She just called and said "well it looks like Kerry will win for sure now, Bush let that guy get away and he is on the news!"

Cheney said the other day that if John Kerry had his way, Saddam Hussein would still have these weapons -- and of course, the weapons would still be under UN lock and key.

Well, Bush GOT his way and now that we have PROOF that OBL is alive, the explosives may be in OSAMA's hands.

So is Bush saying it is better for Osama to have the explosives and be on the run where he can kill Americans than it is for Saddam to have the explosives and have them constantly being monitored by the U.N.?

17. Osama ran and is still hiding, and what makes it almost as bad

is that he is looking a lot better physically as time goes on, which means he is being very well-protected and looked after. bush didn't even manage to make Osama worried.
