Response to my email from Judy Woodruff and her story
Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 05:39 PM by clydefrand
today about Bush's ad with the fake soldier picture. I was indeed surprised to hear from her.

Judy Woodruff's response to my email.

Dear
Thank you for your email. I'm sorry to disappoint you. I try to ask the most relevant and pointed questions I can in the brief time I am given. I don't believe Ken Mehlman blamed Kerry for the ad. But he did turn the questions around to focus on Kerry, which is a familiar tactic. And one that I believe voters can see through.
' My best,
Judy Woodruff

Subject: You missed an opportunity

to ask the hard questions of Mr. Mellman. G.W. Bush is the one who is responsible for this controversial ad with repetitions of soldiers just as he is for this totally wrong war in Iraq. Bush is the one who sent our people to Iraq without the proper body armor. Not John Kerry. John Kerry had nothing to do with that ad with the repeated soldiers, yet you allowed Bush's surrogate to blame Kerry for it. It's beyond my comprehension how you reporters are allowing these people to say these things without your challenging them. You do a disservice to our country by not pressing harder for the truth from both sides. Please, we need the truth, not a partisan view of one candidate over another.

Thank you for reading my email.

Vinton, VA

5. I bother because I've been watching CNN for many, many
years and I believe that they can and should report issues correctly. Before Fox came on the scene, CNN had far better reporting. In order to get their ratings up, they went the way of Entertainment Tonight and Fox. I don't like that and I've let them know with many emails. This is the only one that I've received a response from.

And I will have to give credit where credit is due. Paula Zahn, for the last week, has been holding the surrogates feet to the fire much more than I've seen all summer. And I'm not a fan of hers, but I believe she is trying to get around the spin that they all try to make us hear.

Even though we would much rather see our candidates'surrogates give their twists on the questions, which we favor and find credible, there are times when I wish they would just stay with the question and answer just what they have been asked. I believe it's the duty and responsibility of the reporters to keep asking the questions until they have answers that sound plausible.

6. Normally I would agree with you
But since Reagan pulled that little stunt with the media back in his day, I rate CNN right down there with FAUX.

2. maybe she responded because you were firm, yet polite
I think that was a very, very reasonable email.

We all know Judy is a presstitute, but soming after her guns blazing probably wouldn't solicit a reply.

4. She nailed it
"And one that I believe voters can see through"

Believe it or not its true.
Have some faith.
PEOPLE are SMARTER than some think.

Do not assume that "spin" actually does anything this late in the game.
