What kind of ass hole professor would have an exam scheduled for that day? I'd almost assume that the professor is a repuke.

So instead of colleges encouraging students to vote, they pull this kind of shit to discourage it from happening. It's no surprise, with things like this that people don't make it to the polls.

Fortunately, my sister is excited, this being her first time voting. Still, this bothers me a lot.

1. They should vote!
Tell them to complain to the college.

I've got to work that day. So do millions of other people. No biggie, Really.

3. The business of school does not stop on election day
I imagine students all over the country will be having exams that day. I doubt there is anything political about the professor having a test that day. I myself have never had a problem voting and going to all my classes. Have your sister vote early if she can.

4. Well, I have to work on Tuesday just like
any other day. I either go vote before work or after. I'm thinking this is the same type of thing. You don't need the entire day to vote.

..and extra meeting after school...no way, it's election day. They weren't happy with me...you think educators would be more aware. Even though I voted...I wanted to go help out after work.

6. School is usually closed on election day...
Or at least it was in elementary school and JHS...

But looking at my college website.... I have school.

What the fuck is this? Why are the people who DON'T need to vote getting the day off?

Do they want to make it HARDER for parents to vote?

8. University of Hawaii is closed on the 2nd,
state holiday. Every state should have election day as a holiday!

I love U.H., don't care what anybody says.

12. students have more flexibility than most people
we should have an election day holiday, in the meantime, the people we should be outraged for are the people that have to work all day, no flexibility in their schedules.

13. I have an exam tomorrow during Kerry's visit to Madison
I am so disappointed because I think the rally at the capital will be incredible- huge and such a beautiful place anyway. We had a candlelight vigil there before the war in Iraq began the the place filled with people in just great. I saw Kerry the last time he was here- and I can't jeopardize my stats grade so I'll be missing out... :(

Anyone who is going cheer extra loud for me!!!!!

14. It's better than having a test on Wednesday or Thursday
I think having a test on election day is fine. You're done studying Monday night, then you take your test and go vote. I've never had to skip class to get to the polls.

If there is a test a day or two AFTER election day, otoh, then you might put off voting to be sure you got your studying in.

16. Yeah, I've got a test on Wednesday
It's horrible. I'm trying to use better time-management then I ever have used because there's no way that I'm gonna be studying Tuesday night or Wednesday before the test.

And IF, God forbid, Kerry LOSES, I will be devastated.

17. That sucks. My condolences
I would be pissed about that. Good luck. My thinking: Kerry will win (landslide) and you'll be go into the test buoyed with extra confidence.

15. How long could the exam take?
An hour? Two hours? Why would having an exam on Election Day prevent anyone from voting. Even if it took three hours, there are still plenty of hours to get to the polls.

People who work on Election Day vote before or after work. An exam couldn't possibly take as much time as a full-time work day.

Good for your sister being fired up about it. Is there a polling place on her campus? We had one at the university I attended, if you lived on campus.

18. Wow... a twelve hour exam!
Relax, she can vote before the test or after the test.

I'll be working all day, then voting. It's not a big deal, people all over do it.
