I like her. She sounds reasonable enough for swaying undecideds. She said that although she believes that Bush and Cheney are trying their best to do right by the nation, it is clear that THEY'RE BEST IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. She said she couldn't sleep at night if she went where some of us go and thought they were only out for themselves. She said, "Call me naive."
"You're naive," I answered back.
She then went into talking about all the Bush policies of going it alone that aren't working, and how we need a serious man for a serious time. "Yeah, he isn't tons of fun, but who here is going to be invited to have fun with him. We need a man with integrity. And I'm telling you now John Kerry is that man." (paraphrase)
She caught my attention at first by mentioning her hometown of Green Bay, as she looked up to see pictures of Kerry there on the television. She said he was stepping into hostile territory, even though it produced her. "That's conservative town," she said.
Gee, when I was phone-polling in there, it didn't seems so gosh darned conservative. In fact, it seemed to be polling at least a third for Kerry, better than some Milwaukee suburbs I've run into. I was quite pleased with the Appleton/Green Bay area a couple of Mondays ago. I hope that means something.
