the people who run the electoral college counter are nuts
First thing I notice when I go there is that they have Hawaii as tied. Let me repeat they have a state which has gone democrat in almost every election as tied between Bush and Kerry. May I be the first to say that whoever is running that web sight needs to get a brain transplant. If Hawaii goes Red in this election i will be shocked, but since it won't happen and has never happened I won't worry about it. I'll just be stisfied knowing that I know more about elections that the dips over at electoral college counter.

1. They explain, at great length, how they construct the site
if you mean http://www.electoral-vote.com/ . They don't pick the results that seem 'likely' to them - they use the last poll from any legitimate company.

In fact, 2 polls have recently shown the state as a statistical tie in Hawaii:

2. Oh, you'd hardly be the first
there's a thread like this about every other day. :)

Like muriel_volestrangler says in the post above, they're pretty open about their methodology. Some folks don't like it, some folks like to look at it for an idea of how certain trends are going. Nobody takes it as gospel.

btw, welcome to DU :hi:
