I like wolves. They don't scare me at all. They are beautiful
animals that have a very undeserved reputation. This stupid "wolves" ad doesn't register with me at all. I suspect a lot more people feel the same way, so much so that it would disappoint the silly Repugs that they spent all that money on an ad that people go "ooooohhhh, look at the pretty wolves" to.

1. You know, I think I might go visit the wolves.
They have some at the Lincoln Park Zoo, and you can get in for free!

2. The pug mindset is an extension of the mindset that believed in
exterminating all the predators back in the 19th and early 20th century...

I love wolves too - it pisses me off that the pugs are using them as symbols of evil.

6. Wolves are not evil
Yes they are predators but they work together in complex social groups. I think they have unfairly been persecuted over the ages. They are one of my favorite animals as well.

19. And there is no evidence that Wolves attack people, they don't.
They are beautiful, smart, graceful, communal animals. Now if the ad had used Spiders...

Paul Begala said on Crossfire that they are really just dogs.

5. "Our" Wolf
at the local zoo was almost like a pet to me.

The zoological society built a beautiful habitat for him and he lived there quite content for many years.

On summer afternoons, I would go to the side of the compound, sit on the ground and talk to him. He would come closer, lie down and listen to me.

He had to be put down last Spring from the effects of old age. I miss looking into his eyes.

Without wolves, we would have no canine companions, and the world would be the poorer for it.

17. beautiful pet wolf from my neighborhood.

Her owner just adores her. She's so well behaved, she puts the other dogs at the dog park to shame (again; great owner. Clicker trained her and gives her high quality, home cooked meals. She's his fur baby).

Her hair is standing on end in the first photo because she's "flirting" with the other dog. :-)

21. If you're into wolves
Check out www.nevercrywolfrescue.com. It's an organization started by Sam Blake in the northeast area of Sacramento County, near Citrus Heights. Sam's son (my semi-adopted son) and my oldest were best buds. Their place is about a three minute walk from my home and these animals are magnificent. I love their slogan: "Little Red Riding Hood Lied!"

25. I live just south of Yellowstone, we go up
there on full moon nights and park in just the right places. In winter we ski into just the right places. We wait patiently, sometimes a goodly portion of the night. If we're luckly we hear the Yellowstone packs talking to each other from miles away, sometimes from just yards away.

If we're really lucky we'll see a pack moving across open space in the moonlight, sometimes within just a few dozen feet. We do not pursue them. We wait in plain site. Any wolf we see knows we're there.

Given a chance they'll eat a cow, or an elk, or a moose. That's OK, we've got a fund to compensate ranchers for lost value for the cows and they've got a right to the moose and elk.

Grizzly bears give me concern; wolves do not.

Mate for life. Sounds like they've got more loyalty than the "moral majority" types like Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich and Billy Bennett, eh? LOL What's Rush up to now? His fourth girlfriend-soon-to-be-wife (Is this Kagan related to the neo-con Robert Kagan?)?

30. Wolves are the world's most perfect animal
But I'll admit, my spiritual path makes me kind of biased towards them, so that's not really an objective opinion.

http://www.defenders.org/wildlife/new/wolves.html

Defenders of Wildlife is another good group. They've been big in reintroducing the gray wolf back into the southwest. You can adopt a wolf through them, too.
