Here comes the un-patriotic thing again:
Should people who oppose handling of the war in Iraq say so in public?

By PAULINE JELINEK
ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON, Oct. 18 Americans who disagree with the handling of the war in Iraq should keep their opinions to themselves that's the thinly veiled suggestion from Bush administration supporters who consider open criticism of Iraq policy an aid to the enemy.

1. They can all go fuck themselves
They are not going to get away with blaming us because their war is suddenly not going so well. We warned them, we told them it was a mistake, and I will not be deprived of the chance to say "I told you so" to them.

3. Oh please!
I'm aiding the terrorists if I say the war was a mistake? Why don't I just give up ALL my rights to you now and save myself a whole LOT of trouble later. Last I heard, we still had freedom of speech in place in this country!

4. the best defense is a good offense
We should not defend our patriotism when it is attacked, but simply attack back. They are the ones who are un-democratic, un-American and un-patriotic. Now I make this charge and give all my reasons why it is so before they even have a chance to start with their bullshit.

Liberals will never get anywhere by constantly apologizing for existing.

12. I don't apoligize for being a liberal, I point out the facts about
Liberals and Liberalisms
The things that we would not have if it were not for a bunch of Liberals.
It was a bunch of Liberals who started the Revolutionary War.
I always end the converstion with the definition of Liberalism from Webster:
1 : the quality or state of being liberal
2 a often capitalized : a movement in modern Protestantism emphasizing intellectual liberty and the spiritual and ethical content of Christianity b : a theory in economics emphasizing individual freedom from restraint and usually based on free competition, the self-regulating market, and the gold standard c : a political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of the human race, and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties d capitalized : the principles and policies of a Liberal party

The mention of Christianity always throws them.

5. I hear that argument a lot
and frankly find it flabergasting... I wonder how that works... does the enemy become infused with mystical powers as a result of our democratic process... is there some device that monitors dissent and translates it to power to our enemy... I am dying to know how this works... If anything we empower our enemy by showing them that we are just as much a dictatorship as countries like Iraq were. We encourage their belief in our hypocrisy.. we are not showing any evidence of democracy by remaining silent..

8. Interesting....

"During the Vietnam conflict, the North Vietnamese fought to cause as many American casualties as possible to influence public opinion in a badly divided United States, said Bernard Trainor, a retired Marine lieutenant general."

And the Americans in Vietnam were there simply to engage the Viet Cong in spirited debate.

I wish my eyes were bigger so I could roll them more.
