Why I Like Kerry: Genuine, Steady, Strong

I don't want four more years of lies and irrational adventures based on what the president with a screw loose believes God told him to do. I don't want a president who's not strong enough to entertain different views, from his cabinet to his campaign rallies.

I like Kerry. I can tell that he means what he says. I know he has the experience and the track record to make sound decisions. And I know at those cabinet meetings he's going to be the smartest man in the room. I just prefer a smart president.

At times I think he is too honest, but if he was as dishonest as his opponents are, I couldn't back him... I couldn't live with myself or sleep at night if I were a Borg for Bush.

9. I disagree

about his not making decisions based on religion and ideology. I believe he is guided by his religion (in particular, Catholic Social Teachings).

The difference is he doesn't have visions of himself as a new messiah. And he understands the depth of vision and wisdom in keeping church and state separated.

4. He is a thinking man--a man of integrity, courage and strength.

I don't know if anyone posted this after the last debate, but one of the "undecideds" in the CNN post-debate group,a woman, said the following, "I FEEL SAFE WITH JOHN KERRY."

This was music to my ears. She also said also appreciated that he was an intelligent man. I could not agree with her more. John Kerry will work hard to keep us safe and to restore the promise of our democracy. I admire his idealism and his strength in adversity.

This is a man who offers great promise--to one of our best presidents ever!

6. Solid

He's true in the way a person who has experienced life is true -- without being fake or smarmy.

I just watched Going Upriver. I cried at least three times. The men who fought for this country in Vietnam really need to be listened to now. He was a leader then. He was solid then -- 27 years old and speaking to the Senate.

He has served this country in so many capacities and his service is continuous and true. Almost 40 years of service to this nation.

He is solid, calm and steady, with service still his goal -- a life of service to us.

I respect him.

Imagine a president we could actually respect. What a novelty. A president who is not a buffoon.

8. Kerry helped me

as a single welfare mother in Massachusetts to get out the projects. MA had a welfare program back in the day that paid 100% college tuition for any undergrad degree.

Of course, that's long gone, thanks to state budget crunches brought on by the federal gov'mt shifting the fiscal responsibility of everything onto the states themselves, and, of coure, the smear campaign against poor people on welfare.

Still, Kerry was my senator for most of my adult life. Now that I'm living in conservative Colorado, I really miss that kind of consistently liberal leadership.
