"Endorsements Rolling In for BUSH" says About.com
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 10:23 PM by Atman
I checked out the site because a few of my cartoons are listed as "Guide Picks" in the political humor section. I didn't have the correct URL to that page, so I started at their home page and to my amazement, was greeted to this headline about Bush's "rolling in" endorsements. From "HIGH POWERED" papers, no less. I don't know who the hell gets their news from this site, but the home page editor clearly has a different view of the world than the political humor editor!

====

"President Bush is snagging some high-powered newspaper endorsements as well as endorsements of smaller papers in battleground states. See them all and what they have to say on the Bush Blog for Oct. 17: Chicago Tribune, Arizona Republic, Dallas Morning News, Rocky Mountain News, Grand Rapids Press, Canton Ohio Repository, York Daily Record (PA)."

Maybe we send some famous DU letters to these idiots, though I doubt About.com is really worth the trouble. Oh...and their political humor editor is a GREAT GUY!

2. Daily Endorsement Tally: Kerry Picks up 30 Papers, Widens Lead
By Greg Mitchell
Published: October 17, 2004 11:00 AM EDT

NEW YORK Senator John Kerry picked up a raft of newspaper endorsements on Sunday, widening his lead over President George W. Bush in this area.

Kerry gained the editorial backing of at least 30 papers, with Bush winning the support of 17 that we know of, giving Kerry the overall lead by 45-30 in E&P's exclusive tally. Kerry has more large papers on his side, maintaining his "circulation edge" at nearly 3-1: approximately 8.7 million to 3.3 million (we will post a complete tally on Monday).

However, Bush did pick up several major papers, earning the endorsement of the Chicago Tribune, Arizona Republic, the Denver Rocky Mountain News, Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, Richmond Dispatch, the Indianapolis Star and The Dallas Morning News.

3. Quick name a Democratic candidate for Pres. that the Trib has endorsed?
In the last 5 elections? nope not one. In the last 16 elections? nope none there either! Why would anyone consider the Chicago Trib endorsement of Bush a surprise?

Read this Tribune endorsement..

46th District (Elmhurst area): Too bad Democrat Joe Vosicky doesn't live in Chicago, where he'd have far more like-minded supporters. The attorney is on the faculty of John Marshall Law School and the board of the John Howard Association prison watchdog group. He has sensible ideas for state government. Given that this is GOP country, though, he faces a mountainous challenge in running against Rep. Lee Daniels, a former House speaker and minority leader. Federal investigators have been looking into whether Daniels' staff used state resources to do political work on state time, an investigation that also is probing the staffs of state House Speaker Michael Madigan and state Senate President Emil Jones. Freed of leadership duties, though, Daniels has been able to focus on his worthy advocacy for community-based care for those with developmental diabilities. Daniels is endorsed.

They endorsed an inferior GOP candidate and basically announce that they did so because the more qualified candidate is a Democrat where they aren't used to seeing one.

How in anyones mind is there a liberal press?

over the old drunkard Phil Crane that's been there since the 60's.

That in itself is amazing from the Tribune.

4. Did they list the endorsement of . . .
The Hooterville Holler? Another endorsement rolling in for Bush. Meanwhile, John Kerry picks up a couple of measly endorsements from the likes of the New York Times, Washington Post and a couple of other dinky rags, and thinks he's got something going. Bush will also be endorsed (some people are saying) by the Crooked River Hunting and Fishing Guide, seen by literally hundreds, if not thousands of slack-jawed yokels every month!
