If you want minorities in a cabinet, Shrubbie has 'em: Powell, Rice, Chao.

So if that's so important to you, I guess you'll be voting for Bush in November?

1. This is over the line.
You are putting down people who care about diversity and democratic values.

2. Doesn't really matter
I don't think it's a big issue considering how small of a population Dean had to pick from and I'm Anyone But Dean for the Democratic nomination. Al Sharpton is an idiot who just hurt Dean in the general election if he gets nominated to go up aganist Bush.

6. But you never liked Dean to begin with
So would it REALLY matter to you if he had minorities in his cabinet or not?

And your guy Kucinich doesn't have a really great track record on the minority issue either, if I recall.

7. I was a Dean supporter at one time.
I was talking about the poster and his characterization of supporters of others as Bush supporters. Now THAT'S over the top.

11. No, I did not say that about "supporters of others"
What I said is that those who are bellyaching about Dean's lack of a diverse cabinet of SIX people must like BUSH because HE has a diverse cabinet.

I could care less that people follow another candidate. But these people are just bashing Dean for anything, many of them HAVE NOT declared who they would vote for.

10. It's not a real concern.
Vermont is 98% pale. He offered positions and hired a good number to staff.

Dean is not a racist.

19. Well...
"I never did give anybody hell. I just told the truth and they thought it was hell."- Harry S Truman

What he said was true, we need their votes too. Don't ever write off a voting block barring the Nazi's.

We've got to get them to vote for us and trust us before they take the flags off.

20. Dean wants to find common ground -
... that means racists and non-racists. there's nothing wrong with trying to appeal to both sides, as long as one doesn't betray basic principles. and Dean didn't. racists and non-racists both want good jobs, health care, and good schools for their kids. hooray for common ground and common sense. there was nothing wrong with what Dean said.

21. What hole?
The question remains....

Are the people who are making this an issue really concerned with policies or are they concerned with the appearance of progress?

Does a candidate have to look like you to represent you? Do people not understand the issue of representative government?

This type of thinking is what created the disastrous minority majority districts.....Republicans offered the minority community the chance to have representatives of color and the Dems backed down....

The result: Minorities were packed into a single district that did in fact elect an African American or Hispanic member to Congress...wonderful....

The repugs took a minority population that was distributed 20% over four districts and created one 80% district...leaving three others with little or no minority groups....even if Dems were elected to these districts, minorities (who comprised 40% of the Dem base in each of those example districts) were no longer a core group....

This led to an abandonment of Dems elected without minority support of Affirmative Action....

So everybody keep it up.... Keep pretending that appearances matter and not actions....and we will continued to get screwed by the repugs again and agian...

Sharpton was wrong and it was a cheap shot...

I actually think that actions speak louder than words....or appearances

PS: The point that the original poster was making is that the current Bush administration has had one of the highest minority placement of any administration to date....but one would be hard pressed to claim that this administration supports minority interests...
