I keep reading all these hysterical posts about Sinclair forcing all of their affiliates to show "Stolen Honor," and I am as outraged about it as the next DUer. Unfortunately, from what I am reading today, it is all perfectly legal. Further, in virtually every response I've seen from Sinclair, they claim not even to have scripted the program yet, much less taped it. So which is it? Am I missing something? Is just this their escape hatch? Sorry, but I'm just a bit confused...what, exactly, is Sinclair forcing its affiliates to air?
Finally, while this may not be illegal, I'm not even sure it should be. But, at the very least, it should be brought back into the fold of campaign finance laws and equal time regulations. I'm glad to see that we're using one of the right's favorite techniques against them, the boycott. You can bet that soon we'll be hearing them shreaking about their "free speech" rights being taken away by the evil libruls.
