Bush is not seen as the evil all powerful lord of the masons who runs massive conspiracies with holographic planes by many people. They think such things are silly.
The problem I see is that so many have went all over the board (and the interesting thing is that each group of conspiracy folks has a different view on what and how) that people don't know what to think. Bush was friends with saudis, bush engineered 9/11, bush had no idea and it was karl rove, bush this that and the other.
And it goes on to iraq - he was going to plant WMD from what I saw some here say, but he never did. So he was this masterful manipulator of world evil and he forgot to cover his ass on that. BBV, he is in bed with diebold and others to steal the election, yet he barely eeked out win last time (if one would call it a win, which it was really because he is president so technically, from a purely sematical view it was a 'win').
He will outlaw abortion...well, he hasn't. He will throw dems in jail, make prison camps, kill gays, and so on. He hasn't.
Where am I going on this all? People are confused. They see a million different thoughts and reasons for so many things that they are not sure what is true and what is not. Instead of us focusing on the simple day to day things we got off on a tangent and flooded the minds of people with a zillion different theories on things from 9/11 to the draft to iraq. All we needed to do was stick with the basics.
What has bush done for you. Jobs are gone. Terrorists attacked us while he was chilling out. Thousands died in iraq. Oil prices are at all time highs. The basics list goes on and on.
What have I heard? Holographic planes. Missles from planes into wtc. No plane it hit the pentagon. A plane hit the pentagon. He would plant wmd in Iraq. He lied to us and said there were some there and we did not find them. On and on the things go. His great long ago grandfather helped nazis, so he is one too. He jacked off in a coffin with skull and bones, kerry was a member too. Bush this, bush that. All with a new view into it all, each with it's own facts and analysis.
In the end, no one knows what the hell to think - we have put out 'facts' supporting lihop, mihop, and a ton of other things - the problem is we keep contradicting ourselves over and over. How can I say that? well - they can't all be true. And if we cannot figure out the truth how in the hell do we expect others too? Michael moore had one take on the whole 9/11 thing, but then while we applaud that many others have said he did not tell it all. But the all conflicts.
It only gets worse though really. Gore said Saddam must go and that he was a threat. Clinton believed he had WMD too. We were ok with them saying it (some were) but not bush. A search of google.com/unclesam can show that clinton and gore were on the same page with bush on iraq most the time, but now we are saying they were all wrong too - but they weren't really to blame because bad intelligence, bush though is to blame.
We need to stick to the basics. Bush does not support the little guy, his policies do not help the people, they help only the big companies. Things have gotten worse, not better all the way around. Kerry is a chance to change all that. Gas prices are up. Employment is down. People in the USA are hurting. Dems can help, they want to help, they actually care about you as a person and all bush cares about is helping his big money buddies.
A simple message, a simple idea, and a simple way to get people to see the basics. Kerry, while not perfect, offers them something that bush cannot. The dem party in total. We care, we want to help, and we will work for YOU. And you here means the little guy and the business owner busting his ass to make a living. We can help everyone, bush only wants to help his buddies.
Kerry is the logical choice. We don't need to go off on some tangent about 9/11, iraq, etc. It is enough that 9/11 went down while bush did nothing, it is enough that iraq was invaded and that things are going poorly when we know we could do better and save lives. It is enough that jobs are gone and people suffer with little help. Focus, get that message out, and bush will go away and kerry will win.
Then we start again - we keep an eye on kerry and crew and kick their butts when they don't stick to the basics we put them there to do. We hire these people, and I don't care if an R or D follows their name - their actions define them, and if they don't do the job kick em out and make sure we tell em where they are failing us.
Kerry will soon be our employee - and I damn well aim to keep him doing the job I hired him to do. Bush failed, gets an F. If kerry does the same I will call him on it too.
PS to all this. I am not saying to disregard looking into things (like 9/11) deeper. I am merely pointing out that I feel, personally, that a lot of folks watch us here at DU and I can see where they get confused. Discuss things, debate them, but don't let pet theories overtake you. Keep an open mind.
Sorry for the rant, and thank you for an interesting post which I believe will cause people to ponder more deeply some things. I am in no way wanting to demean the hard work of others who have sought the truth on things from 9/11 to iraq to bbv. I am thankful your work is there, I was merely commenting on the subject at hand and how I feel it could add to the confusion people feel on bush (or perhaps any elected official). I have been here years reading and have found great insight from many with a plethora of articles which have caused me to think in depth.
My comments were designed to give my views on why I think some people are unsure/undecided (I think the choice is clear) and is based on talking to people I know and my own experiences with postings both here and elsewhere. Nor do I wish to demean in any way the work of those who seek out the deeper roots of things, which one may call a conspiracy theory, as I myself do subscribe to a number of them. This post was intended to be on topic and how I saw others as perceiving things so if I have offended any please accept my apologies in advance.
