1. one of those bizarre things
Name was Michael Guess. Co-pilot of the Plane that Wellstone died in.

Michael Guess worked at the Pan Am Intenational Flight school in 2001. Have this excerpt saved:

Two former Pan Am program managers who tipped the FBI to Moussaoui's suspicious behavior at the school in August 2001 said Guess inadvertently gave Moussaoui unattended access to a computer program on flying a 747 jumbo jet. One of the ex-managers said Guess placed a CD-ROM containing the 747 software at a work station in advance of one of Moussaoui's training sessions, before his flight instructor arrived. After Moussaoui was arrested and the FBI searched his belongings, they found the proprietary program copied on his laptop computer, the ex- manager said.

As reported in the Minnesota Star Tribune, IIRC.

2. There really is nothing to it
the media attempted to make a deal of it at the time. Some of us saw it as part of the attempt to make sure the pilots on Wellstone's plane were completely discredited (once the weather reason fell through).

3. Who tried to "make a deal of it" in the media, dfl?
The Star Tribune story implied nothing sinister, as I recall.

Can you point me to other stories with a different cast?

Thx.

4. As I recall it was our old buddy
Wolf "gee the weather was awful" Blitzer in a CNN report doing an aha moment about them being at the flight school together.

The Strib reported the story straight and did not imply anything - Blitzer left out quite a few of the details. I think that's what struck me at the time because the local paper gave us the whole story and CNN was telling half of it.
