Mortar fire resumes...
www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/ShArt.jhtml?itemNo=540718&contrassID=1&subContrassID=5&sbSubContrassID=0&listSrc=Y

<snip>

Five mortar rounds were fired at the Gaza settlement of Morag throughout Wednesday. There was no injuries or damage in any of the attacks.

<snip>

The deaths in the West Bank on Tuesday of three Palestinians, including a 15-year-old boy, raised concerns over a renewal of tension in the territories that would overshadow negotiations between Israel and the PA after a two-week period of relative calm.

<snip>

Also Tuesday, the IDF shot dead two armed Palestinians, Assam Hamad of the Balata refugee camp and Mahayub Alkini of the village of Kalil near Nablus.

<snip>

Al-Aqsa Brigades members said the two armed men were guarding an abandoned Palestinian house near the settlement and were killed by Israeli troops without provocation.

2. I assume you're talking about Gvaot
in that Reuters article...

It's not a new settlement (not to mention that it's in the area whcih, under every one of the proposed agrreements (including the Geneva Accords) will remain Israeli)

3. please check again...
looking at the map i have it appears that both Gvaot and Gush Etzion are unmistakably east of the green line.

furthur the agreed "road map" requires israel to "halt settlement-building on land Israel captured in 1967".

settlement-building= creating new as well as expanding current ones.

4. What I meant
was that Gvaot (which is in the part of Gush Etzion closer to the Green Line) is part of an area beyond the Green Line which, under every proposed agreement, will become part of Israel.

5. aka. annexation and land theft?
the settlement is still currently in the west bank more than 40KM from the green line.

the annexation wall is internationally recognized as illegal and is to be dismantled.

and as youre saying "every PROPOSED agreement"...

why would anyone accept an agreement where the borders are shifted over 40KM into their territory???

6. Well,
"why would anyone accept an agreement where the borders are shifted over 40KM into their territory???"

The Geneva Accords (to name the most famous proposal) were agreed upon between Israelis and Palestinians - and the inclded Gvaot and Gush Etzion in Israel.

7. hows this sound...
i forcibly and illegally occupy rooms in your home(west bank) and work place(gaza).

then i propose(geneva accords) you give me these rooms of your home and i will evacuate your work place.

BEFORE i have left your work place i announce and prepare to move some friends into your home.

ultimately whether abbas decides to trade west bank land for some beach front property is his choice.

8. One more time
In all agreements, THAT THE PALESTINIANS AGREED TO (e.g. Geneva Accords) the area would remain Israeli

9. When both sides agree to the Geneva Accord, you will be right...
Edited on Thu Feb-24-05 07:19 AM by Darranar
but at the moment, it is still beyond the Green Line, and so it is still an illegal settlement.

I highly doubt an unmodified Geneva Accord will be the final agreement, if there ever is a final agreement, anyway.

Should the Palestinians be allowed to freely enter and settle those parts of Israel the Geneva Accord cedes to them?
