Analysis / Hamas is laying a hudna trap
There is no need for a cease-fire agreement as proposed by the Palestinians; Israel is prepared to keep the peace and limit its military activities to defense only, if the Palestinians will keep the peace on their side and stop terror entirely.

That was the message delivered to PA Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia's bureau chief, Hassan Abu Labda, at a meeting yesterday with his Israeli opposite number, Dov Weisglass.

The difficulties in reaching an agreement between the Palestinian factions in Cairo are strengthening the notion in Jerusalem that the term "cease-fire" as meant by the Palestinians bears an advantage for the terror organizations.

Negotiations between the two bureaus is also just at the starting point. Abu Labda and Weisglass have set up an additional meeting, and the two sides are preparing their next moves. Israel has said that if the road to quiet is a bumpy one, it can understand that the dismantling of the terror infrastructure cannot be done in one day. However it will require the fullest of efforts by the Palestinians that are prepared to do so.
