Israeli rabbi: Honey-pot sex is kosher for female Mossad agents
Edited on Tue Oct-05-10 05:14 AM by azurnoir
An Israeli rabbi has given his blessing to female agents of Israel's foreign secret service, Mossad, who may be required to have sex with the enemy in so-called "honey-pot" missions against terrorists.

<snip>.

In fact, honey-pot missions are rooted in Biblical lore.

Queen Esther, who was Jewish, slept with the Persian king Xerxes around 500 BC to save her people, Schvat noted. Yael, wife of Hever, slept with the enemy chief of staff Sisra to tire him and cut off his head, according to tradition.

There is a catch, however, for married honey-pots. "If it is necessary to use a married woman, it would be best her husband to divorce her. ... After the act, he would be entitled to bring her back," Schvat wrote.

"Naturally, a job of that sort could be given to a woman who in any event is licentious in her ways."

4. How so?
I'm not saying he isn't a moron, but why do you think this makes him one?

6. How not?
Argue that he is not one, and I will consider whether to respond. If you just want to pick a fight because I offered my opinion that he is a moron, then I'm not interested.

7. Not picking a fight.
I'm not a freeper trying to pick an argument over everything, I'm just curious about others opinions. :)

About the ruling: I think it's silly, but hardly moronic. IMHO, Religious declarations like this really amount to judges looking up case precedent. The body of law is in this case the Torah. Being an atheist I think that's silly and backwards, but the way he arrived at this ruling seems reasonable to me.

10. PS: the law is frequently an ass, which is the case IMHO here.
And being logical does not mean your premises are not fatuous, it just means you have been consistent in applying them.

In this particular case the question being answered (whether it is OK from a religious POV for a woman to serve the state by sexual activity with enemies) is itself fatuous, in the sense that: 1.) the woman does not get to decide this for herself, 2.) i.e. that it is considered a religious question to be referred to a religious authority, that is the Rabbi or 3.) i.e. that the self-serving authoritarian dribblings of partiarchal middle eastern tribal leaders from several thousand years ago are considered to offer supreme insight on such questions for people today. Note that the question is being answered in a general way, there is no specific situation that is being addressed, the Rabbi just decided that it needed to be answered, hence the Rabbi is really seeking attention for himself and his organization and its activities, and he is employing a sexual topic to do that, to attract attention.

Consider the vision of the Rabbi sitting around pondering this question, spending weeks visualizing some woman having sex to serve the state, uplifting isn't it? No doubt the deity is deeply moved in a positive way by this sort of thing.

I could go on, there are other critical points of view that one can easily apply, but I won't.

It is my opinion that this sort of drool needs to be ridiculed whenever it comes up.

You took the trouble to make a courteous and reasonable argument, so I thought I should give you something of what you asked for.

5. If the husband of a Mossad agent temporarily divorced her
so she could undertake her "honey pot" mission, wouldn't that blow the agent's cover? I assume that, as is the case in the U.S. divorce filings in Israel are public record.
