'Al-Manar' glider lands in Israel
Odd story with out any background, but it is intruiging:

A glider with the name of Hezbollah's television network inscribed on the wings landed at an Israeli military base near southern Lebanon, the military said.

The Israeli army reported that an unmanned glider with the words "al-Manar" inscribed on it landed near a border camp during the weekend. The glider wasn't carrying weapons or surveillance equipment, Lebanon's Daily Star newspaper reports.

3. A message regarding capability, exposing of weakness
That glider could have had a payload, and it still would have passed onto a military base undetected at any actionable point. Like the last war, Hizbu'llah intends to make increasingly effective strategic assaults on the military bases of the aggressor, while the latter prefer to terrorize civilians and drop cluster bombs on highways.

5. You honestly think Hezbollah wouldn't kill thousands of civilians
if they had the weapons to do it? Really?

6. Why speak of hypotheticals,
Edited on Sat Aug-07-10 12:00 AM by Alamuti Lotus
when there is the more tangible example of Israel doing exactly that on a fairly regular basis since the 1970s? Hizbu'llah has the ability and ample opportunity (recall the "40,000 rockets!!" refrain), but has never taken the same path; this is not a matter of opinion or spin control, but obvious observation. Meanwhile, Lebanese farmers and children are still maimed and murdered by the cluster bombs dropped on residential areas.

7. They tried to take that path in 2006
and got their asses handed them - that's why they have been so quiet. They know that a massive rocket attack on Israel would make 2006 look like a walk in the park. Lets not forget who started the war in 2006. They also saw what happened in Gaza - concern for Israeli civilians is not the reason they have restrained from attacking Israel.
