Ukrainian university asks UN to 'close' Israel
Iran's president, who wants to see a world without Israel, has a vociferous ally in Ukraine.

A Kiev-based university that already has gained international notoriety for its anti-Zionist propaganda and anti-Semitic publications now wants the United Nations to "close" Israel.

The call came in November from the Interregional Academy for Personnel Management, known by its Russian acronym MAUP, whose leadership said the United Nations should revoke its 1947 resolution on the creation of a Jewish state.

"Mankind lived without the State of Israel exactly 2,670 years, but after the second of its creation all the world feels a constant aggression of the old 'sons of the devil,' " according to a university statement, published last month in the school newspaper, supporting Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's recent call to destroy Israel.

1. Walling in Israel. Gee, that would be poetic justice.
Hell, it'd probably make them happy to no longer have to deal with the rest of Humanity, much less the Palestinians.

3. Happier, perhaps.
Maybe they citizens could go the mall and buy without wondering if they will die in the process. Oddly enough in the US, we are told to shop to stop terrorism, but in Israel, to do that could result in your death.

4. Gene Roddenbury's: Andromeda did an episode like this...
The inhabitants built a gigantic wall seperating north from south ages before. They'd long-since forgetten why, but the hostilities continued.

Walls don't work. You have to do things to make the Palestinians like (or at least tolerate) living with you on that tiny strip of land. Bombing terrorists, closing borders and all that other "fun" stuff only serves to piss the unstable among them off more. And cowering and backtracking everytime someone decides to try (with a bomb) to derail progress you've made just helps them succeed.

5. Walls don't work.
I would generally agree with that, but it seems to be needed for now. Once both sides feel better protected and safer maybe someone can come along and ask for the wall to come down. (That last sentence is a bit sarcastic, but somewhat earnest.)

6. My paternal grand mother's family fled the Ukraine
They can wall in the Ukraine and keep Bogdan Chmelnitski and the Cossacks.
