any different from working to bring about the (violent) overthrow of the American government? (Ignoring the fact that the "end time", as pictured by the fundies, is a total, mean-spirited fantasy. After all, these guys are actually taking steps.)
At what point is this prosecutable under current law? Certainly one does not have to actually overthrow the government to be guilty of acting to do so or of having the intent to do so. (And an argument can be made that the fundies et al have already overthrown the government.)
Put another way, when does your ultimate intent render unlawful a series of otherwise lawful actions (under the domain of US law, at least)? Do certain intents color these actions sooner or later in the process and do some get a complete pass? Is invading Iraq lawful if the intent was to damage Al Qaeda or other enemies, yet criminal (treason) if the intent was to damage America or enhance her enemies... and this regardless of what actually happened? What if the intent was to bring about the end of the world and the destruction of America --- would this be criminal intent?
