5. I'd rather know why...
...gun ownership is not (apparently) a core Dem Party value. If we don't have the money, we should at least have the guns. Self preservation is important.

So, you have a problem with others having religious beliefs, their desire for self-preservation, and/or sexual preference?

If yer not focused like a laser beam on the singular issue of importance, yer 'anti.' Not much in the way of middle ground 'round here.

22. Problem with that as one moves too much in one direction, the middle moves with it
Like the "liberal" supremes were mainstream Republicans when Ford etc put them there. Then Roberts and Thomas showed up. I think those two are less right wing and more simply on the take.
The Tea baggers would think Jerry Ford and Eisenhower are commies, both are to the left of Obama. Guess where that puts Boner, Ryan, and Bachmann?

38. I always get a kick out of that one.
"Democrats support the Second Amendment but recognize it has limits"

A limit on governmental exercise of power has limits...

"shall not be infringed" does't seem to have "except when we see fit" or "other than" as qualifiers.

16. Yes actually, if you take US v Miller 1939
to its logical conclusion, machine guns and military type rifles are constitutionally protected while Olympic style target pistols are not.

Do you know what assault weapon means?

11. Between....
Between the American millionaire, corporation, military monarchy and the Second Amendment all demonstrate that the United States is no better than a Third World Banana Republic.

In a Banana Republic, millionaires, corporations, the military, and yahoos carrying guns are all that count, just like in the United States.

18. Actually these Banana Republics
ban private ownership of guns, so the only yahoos are gangsters or sanctioned death squads. In other words, your analogy fails. Your pistols acts were based of fear of immigrants. Your 1977 law was based on Quebec separatists shooting up places. Don't give me this "we are more civilized than thou" shit.

41. As a former Republicon, let me say the answer is a big Hell No!
For many years, because of the gun issue, I was very confused about my orientation. It is the opinion of some in here that guns are a gateway drug to Republicanism. Not exactly, IMHO.

I think it's more an issue of very vocal and visceral dislike of guns and gunowners, by some on the left, that drives pro gun progressives into the closet wearing Republican drag--like a Maggie Thatcher wig.

I always identified myself as a gunner first, and at the handful of GOP functions I attended I felt very much held out at arms length at best, a pariah at worst. Vast majority of the GOP faithful could not give a shit less about gun rights, and the mere thought of the unwashed massed with guns scares them to death.

Guns are a footnote in the GOP platform, not a core issue.

- Outsourcing of jobs
- Destruction of the middle class
- Transfer of MORE wealth to the top 1 percent
- No taxes
- No regulations
- Government small enough to drown in the bathtub

Those are the core Republican Party values. America The Country Club.

To anyone still damned fool enough to believe that foreign governments and multinational corporations are going to give one fat rat's ass about R2KBA, send me a certified check for $50K as I have about $24 billion that I'm willing to share because of my efforts helping Robert Mueller fight terrorism--or so says about 3 or 4 Emails in my spam folder every month.
