Senators Consider Repealing Concealed Gun Permit
http://www.thewmurchannel.com/news/2837016/detail.html

I just came across this. What effect would this have on crime, if any? It seems to me that the state would want to know, but the article says that Vermont doesn't even have permits, why is that?

1. Neither Vermont nor Alaska require a permit to carry a concealed firearm
As long as you aren't legally disqualified because of a criminal record, etc.

What effect would this have on crime, if any?

Present consensus is that concealed-weapons laws have no effect on overall crime rates, up or down.

2. If Minnesota doesn't repeal theres
I think North Dakota should adopt a law allowing us to shoot
people with Minnesota plates on sight, just as a precaution,
in case they're armed.

This is so silly, and churches are actually having to go to
court to try and enforce a "you can't bring your gun to
church" ban.

Attn: DFLPrincess, and any other MN DUers. If you donate and
put your DU sticker on your car, I promise not to shoot.

North Dakota has reciprocity with the following states, which means that a North Dakota concealed weapon permit is valid while in these states, and permits from the following states are recognized as valid in North Dakota. Individuals must be familiar with and obey the laws of the state in which they are traveling.

Alabama
Alaska (must be 21 years old or older, will not recognize permits held by those ages 18 - 20)
Arizona (must be 21 years or older and cannot ever have been convicted of a felony)
Florida (must be age 21 or older)
Idaho
Indiana
Kentucky
Michigan (North Dakota residents only)
Montana
New Hampshire (North Dakota residents only)
Oklahoma
South Dakota
Tennessee (handguns only - no other firearms or weapons authorized)
Utah
Wyoming
Vermont (recognizes the North Dakota permit, however, the State of Vermont does not issue concealed carry permits)

BTW, please note that the RKBA did not propose preemptive homicide.

Even in irony

3. Last question first. Vermont trusts adults until they give cause
to the state to do otherwise, as does Alaska.

Likely llittle effect on crime. GO NH! Repeal that permit stuff and get in line with your sister state!
