Man arraigned in woman's accidental shooting death!
DETROIT (AP) - A Detroit man has been arraigned in Wayne County Circuit Court in the slaying of a 69-year-old woman who was hit by an errant bullet fired at a carjacking suspect.

The prosecutor's office says 65-year-old Edward Bell was arraigned Monday and released on bond. He's been ordered to wear a GPS tether.

Bell will stand trial for manslaughter in the May 12 shooting death of Geraldine Jackson. Jackson was struck by a slug that passed through a wall into her home.

No trial date was set.

There was no answer Monday at the phone number for Bell's lawyer.

Police say Bell was shooting at 19-year-old Antwan Hall after the older man was robbed at a nearby house and had his sport utility vehicle stolen. Hall has a July 7 preliminary examination on a murder charge.

1. He was firing at a fleeing suspect; you always have to be aware
of what may be beyond your target. In this case, he is probably in the wrong, and will have to deal with the consequences of his poor judgment.

2. Can't shoot fleeing suspect
Yes, even if his shot landed on the fleeing suspect he'd still be in the wrong.

5. Yes, a man shot a thief who was walking away from his neighbors house in the back.....
and killed him. Shockingly the prosecutor did not charge him.

What a great state!
