Police say Pa. woman fired shot near son’s feet because he wouldn't listen
BANGOR - A Pennsylvania woman is accused of firing a shot into the ground near her teenage son's feet because he wouldn't listen to her.

Police say 35-year-old Dawn Lynn Hogan was arguing yesterday with her son in front of her home in Lower Mount Bethel Township, Northampton County, and eventually went into the house to get her 9mm handgun. Police say when she went outside, her son continued to argue and she fired a shot, but didn't injure him.

Hogan is charged with endangering the welfare of children, possession of instruments of crime and recklessly endangering another person. She's in the Northampton County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail. It wasn't immediately clear if she had a lawyer.

It's idiots like this who never should have a gun! Well I trust she won't be lawfully allowed to have one in the future!

3. Well-having finished raising a teen....

I'd say she was just trying to get his attention and let her off with a warning and take away his iPod.

edited to add-think I'll send this to my daughter. She just doesn't know how close I came to completing the circle of life for her. Teens can be very frustrating-And I was raising her in my 50's. Two people going through hormonal changes in the same house is just asking for it. This poor woman was 38-that's young to have a teen.

4. Listen? I thought shooting at the feet was to make folks dance.
Well, maybe the teen was arguing with her insistence that he dance. ;-)

Does this mean that now people will be forced to dance in national parks? ;-)
