"Amendment II Democrats" - Coming to DemocracyFest in Austin
If all goes well, I'll set up under the tent at DemFest at 5pm Friday afternoon and we can have a short bull session on activism and organization to start defeating gun-interdiction initiatives in the Democratic Party on a grass-roots level. Nothing real fancy, but let's put our heads together and see what we come up with.

Website to follow soon - hopefully by the time DemFest is up and running. Will keep you posted!

3. Sharing invite...
Have you tried sharing this invite with Pink Pistols?

http://pinkpistols.org/index2.html

They seem to have a Central Texas chapter that just might be interested...

I took the liberty of sharing this with Gun Toting Liberals at geocities/yahoo-groups. Hope you don't mind.

And thanks for your efforts,

Xela

derby,

Thanks for the welcome. Great to be here.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it. I'm in the Dallas/FW area.

But at least one buddy at Gun Toting Liberals is in Austin, and he would like to check it out. Try the group for a possible get together...

All the best in this enterprise,

Xela

P.S. Sorry for the plug, I hope it's not too bad. But I guess it could help us keep off topic chat out of DU. Please edit as necessary if I've done a no no.

Not too crazy about their hat choices, but let me see what I can do. I'll probably have a cap of some kind listed tomorrow on the site. Thanks!

On edit: There will also be a dog shirt. Also coming tomorrow, so please check back.

10. One concern
Derby,

I have one concern.

I know of the previous existence of a group named Second Amendment Democrats, the even had a website for a while.

I've attempted to reach their current/former members thru ceasefear (Seattle, WA) to make sure you guys don't have any conflicts.

Ceasefear:
http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/ceasefear/

I hope you don't mind, as I'm NOT trying to undermine your efforts at all.

Xela

-------------email sent-------
Greetings ceasefear,

I'm trying to reach the people associated with the Second Amendment Democrats group and their former website.

Currently there's an initiative by fellow pro-2nd liberals to start using the name "Amendment II Democrats" at Democratic Underground.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=118x106784

I'm NOT trying to start a war between the two groups, I'm simply trying to bring you all together, as there might be a possibility of copyright infringement or whatnot.

Of course, my fears could be absurdly baseless, but thought I should let you know none the less.

If there are any Second Amendment Democrats PLEASE join us at Democratic Underground to clear any questions.

12. Nevermind Xela's "concern"
Sorry for the alarm.

I have received direct communication from our fellows at d2a.org that there is no problem whatsoever.

"The more the merrier", says Don Baldwin, formerly of Democrats for the Second Amendment (d2a.org).

Ceasefear:
http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/ceasefear/message/621

My initial concerns proved unfounded.

Let the party continue.

My apologies,

Xela

13. No problem
It was my understanding that D2A folded a while back, and I'm really trying not to step on people's toes.

This project is still in its infancy, so we're all in a learning process at this point. Let's just see where this crazy thing takes us.

14. D2A
I appreciate the consideration in checking with us. The deal is
that a few of us were working on this (D2A) when I lived in
California. I moved to the MidWest (briefly - 3 years) and then
Seattle (where I remain) but buried in work, our lead guy died of a
heart attack and another member suffered a personal loss. Between
work, family and trying to have a little free time I have time to
participate in stuff like this but not be lead guy.

So count me in. :)

15. caveat
I said:
<<So count me in>>

This is assuming that the group isn't around to endorse
"reasonable" new gun controls...

Oh yes, I know about those "reasonable" new gun controls - they just worked so well for us in the recent past.

21. Ack!!
Sorry it's not up yet - between tweaking code and attending classes at DemFest under the Austin sun, I haven't been able to get the thing on-line yet. Plus, I'm waiting to hear back from my ISP on what it takes to upload my pages, or if I have to use their pre-fab templates instead (which will add a little more time).

Please hang in there, folks - we're gonna get this yellow dog barking on-line real soon!

Here's the link when it's finally up and running:
