Man convicted in bombing that killed police officer is rearrested

QUINCY, Mass. -- It's back to prison for Thomas Shay, the Quincy man who served 10 years behind bars for a 1991 bomb blast that killed a Boston police officer.

A federal judge ordered Shay to serve 33 months in a federal prison for violating terms of his supervised release.

Shay was arrested earlier this month at his mother's home in Quincy. Authorities had been looking for him for more than a year, after he allegedly gave a prescription drug to two teen-agers in the town of Spencer.

Shay was convicted of plotting with Alfred Trenkler to plant a home-made bomb under a car belonging to Shay's father. The device went off as bomb squad members were inspecting it, killing Officer Jeremiah Hurley and seriously injuring his partner.

1. He got out after 10 years for killing a police officer who foiled his
plot to blow up his father??????

OMG, this just frosts my ass. This guy wanted to kill his father, tried to, but killed a police officer and is out after 10 friggin' years.

But they put 2 13-year olds in adult jail for a week and want them to register as sex offenders for patting a couple of girls on the ass? (Which is not good but WILL mark the for LIFE.)

This country is so fucked up.

2. I don't understand sentencing in this country
It seems inversely proportional to the severity of the crime.

I got a ticket the other day for $590 ! For an illegal left turn and expired stickers (on my counter at home). A few nights ago, a man who BEAT THE EVERLIVING SHIT out of his wife at a local bar got a $500 and unsupervised probation, and she was in the hospital for WEEKS !

Pot smokers? Years. Dealers? Life.

Steal $100? 25 years. Steal $10M? 4 years at a minimum security prison.

This idiot killed a cop with a bomb and got ten years?

This country is really fucked in the head when it comes to law and order.
