'Suspect' package at Royal Air Force Base, Mildenhall, England
Explosives specialists have been called to RAF Mildenhall and its main gates have been closed after a suspicious package was found on a vehicle.
Security measures were initiated at 10.30am after the 100th Security Forces Squadron team and the Ministry Guard Service found the package on a vehicle at the main gate after a routine search.

The vehicle was trying to gain access to the air force station.

A bomb disposal unit from RAF Lakenheath and a unit from RAF Wittering were called in to investigate.

A 60 metre stretch of the A1101 leading to the base was closed until 3.30pm.

A spokesman for the base said the device was found to be 'non hostile' and the car was returned to its owner.
