Btw, thank you all in advance. :) (I will also be posting this in the Peek Oil forum)

1) Where does the U.S. import its oil from?

2) How much do we import?

3) and of the oil we do import, how has the amount risen since 1973?

:)

2. For an undertaking that is "collosal" you had better make good friends with your local academic/
large public libraries' reference staff muy pronto.

Google is a good start, but you need the resources of the academic databases for good Gov Docs/UN/corporate reports as well as for the tertiary and secondary sources that will lead you to the primary docs.

That means a library, either thru remote access or physical presence. The local public academic libraries are free for use to all, whether staff, faculty or student. Just realize that first service will be towards the students and faculty, then staff, then outside users. Unless you are an alumnus or have paid for an outside user's card, then you will not have remote access, and will have to go in person.

Or you could hire me: $25 an hour, minimum of $100 in advance!

3. Oh I know, this is just a place to get me started. I'm already spending my life at the
library and on the net. Sometimes my brain hurts and I have to ask for a hand. :)

4. I can answer the first two.
1) The U.S. imports most of its oil from Canada, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Venezuela.
2) The U.S. uses about 21 million barrels of oil per day, and imports roughly half of it.
