Parched Texans Impose Water-Use Limits for Fracking Gas Wells
(Bloomberg) -- An intensifying drought in Texas is prompting limits on water consumption that for the first time target oil and natural gas producers.

Local water districts, which have authority to allocate water from subterranean aquifers, are adding a water-intensive production method called hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, to some of the pumping restrictions they’re imposing on farmers and small towns.

1. Well duh!! I bet they will fight that restriction.
And if they do opponents need to be out front that the oil industry would rather kill off people so they can get the oil.

2. OMG, they're interfering with the 'free market'! How can they stop all that domestic
gas production that would save us from dependence on dirty energy? They must all be socialists or something!

5. One certainly couldn't expect free-market capitalism to allow
restraints on water usage merely because people and animals in the area need drinking water.

I mean, really. /sarcasm

7. and this is from a government that, given the choice between the Second Coming
and extracting yet one more barrel, would cancel its tickets for Ben Gurion and hustle back to Austin to make sure neither law nor morality obstructs the process

8. Good luck. Oil, gas, and mining are exempt from groundwater conservation districts.
