Fukushima: Crippled nuclear plant not prepared for heavy rain, wind
FUKUSHIMA — The crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is not fully prepared for heavy rain and strong winds forecast due to a powerful typhoon moving Saturday toward disaster-affected areas of northeastern Japan, according to the plant’s operator Tokyo Electric Power Co.

Heavy rain has been forecast for the areas from Sunday to Monday due to the season’s second typhoon, Songda, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

1. Well I admit that neither did I plan for that.

Then again, I'm not in that line of work.

2. It would be funny if it were not so serious
I do feel sorry for those trying to control this ragging bull. They really can't catch a break. Damn!

Also, I note how silly our "engineering for all possible contingencies" BS looks when exposed to reality. I'm not one who believes that nuclear power can never be safe or that safe nuclear power is impossible but I am one who believes that major revisions of our existing reactors as well as major reviews of any future plans must be done before we proceed.

3. I've become so cynical about this...
...because of their "truthiness" that I question every thing they say. Seriously...we've been told that
the majority of the reactors melted down and this was known at least a few weeks into this disaster.

I'm wondering if they're now looking for more "events" such as this typhoon to blame on more meltdowns
or bad news. Apparently, they're having trouble with reactors 4and #5, so maybe this is their way to
linking additional meltdowns to other events.

Who the hell knows.

I'm just tired of the lies.

4. Oh. Oh. We're all going to dfie.
I can't see what the concern is though.

Fukushima is already responsible for the death of everyone in Japan.

I guess now the point is that life on earth is going to end because of Fukushima.

What's the radiation death toll right now?

I would guess from the amount of attention paid to it, 50,000,000 at least.

Am I right?

5. Care to guess what the future toll might be

Remember to include in your calculations the reconcentration of Caesium isotopes by the food chain. Have you worked out the effect of the loss of agricultural land, Miyagi prefecture has often been called "Japan's rice bowl".

But you don't care about that, you have seen your bright blue guiding light and do not care about cancers, weakened immune systems, deformities and miscarriages. I bet you don't worry about containment at all because containment will fail at some time.

Edit to add

And when the typhoon/tropical storm Songda hits it will not exacerbate the situation instead it will drop magic fairy dust that will make everything better.

8. This accident and the shift in public opinion has really undercut your position.
It's no wonder you're feeling a bit out of sorts these days.

6. Where's Bilbo Baggins?
To tell us that we're over-exaggerating the risk, it's not as bad as we make it out to be, and the risk is minimal?

Of course, he's an expert on the effects of typhoons in Japan, so he will obviously know better than anyone else.
