3. *sigh*
You know the ones who are concerned about what's in the vaccines, I can at least understand. But the ones who say "I got *insert disease* and I'm okay" just completely slay me. Can they really be that dumb.

10. Hadn't really thought about it like that
Edited on Sun Aug-24-08 04:24 AM by depakid
but it could be.

Some of this stuff has been stirred up by fundies at "Concerned" Women of America, and at Judicial Watch- but it's impressive how its spread through the web in the states.

It's epidemic on the health forum.

4. Dearlord ...

I'm gonna have a couple posts deleted from that "discussion" I imagine. Couldn't bring myself to hold back.

Ignorance is like crack it seems.

9. I'm really stunned ...

I dunno why. I shouldn't expect sheer ignorance not to run rampant everywhere, especially with some of the crackpot theories that get voiced in this place, but still. I'm stunned.

As I've said in another context, some people, regardless of political ideology, have no sense of history at all. These "earth" remedies that so many of these numskulls want to promote sure didn't help Native Americans when Europeans and their smallpox showed up. But now they want us to go back to that?

Geezusmaryandjoseph.

Sometimes "you're an idiot" is the only thing to be said. These people remind me of Bush's approach to science, and that's the kindest thing I could say about him.

Anyways ...

11. Hey, don't laugh. They use medical leeches these days......
they are used to keep venous congestion in reattached body parts from causing gangrene.

http://www.leeches.biz/

And I did bimonthly bloodletting on a feline patient with an extremely rare blood disorder (polychtyemia vera) for a couple of years.

12. You're right about...
medical leeches in reattached body parts ,I saw that in a couple of documentaries and read about it.

But those are used for specific cases.Until the early 19th century leeches and bloodletting

was the panacea for every diseases or wounds and it killed more patients than it saved.

And some peoples seems almost as clueless as those "Doctors".

BTW thanks for the infos about bloodletting on the feline patient with a rare blood disorder,I

suppose that it's also used for similar human diseases.I didn't know about that and I love to learn.

Cool! I'll go to bed less ignorant tonight. :)

-Jeff
