I don't want to hear anything at all about the chemistry of benzopyrenes, benzofurans, the IR absorption spectra of carbon dioxide, pH, acid rain, heavy metals poisoning, geology or any other subject like that.

Physics is also out of the question. Nothing about heat capacity, the entropy of chemical separations, nothing like that.

Also epidemiology. You are not allowed to discuss any kinds of cancer associated with dangerous fossil fuels, because I want to feel good about my car.

All I want to hear is that my car is great.

Super.

Duper.

Totally without consequence.

Perfecto mundo.

Got it?

Fire away.

3. That's great.
The first thing that those damn hippies always do when they make up a water shortage is to tell me I can't wash my car.

I hate that.

6. You're always welcome in any discussion where science is banned.
You are an expert in avoiding science.

11. My Mom is dead.
Edited on Sat Mar-01-08 06:04 PM by NNadir
She's been dead, in fact, more than three decades.

She had, if you must know, a 9th grade education and nothing more. She was one of thirteen children, ten of whom survived to adulthood. Her mother died when she was eleven; her father when she was 20.

Every day afterwards she depended on her own resources, until she married, whereupon she shared resources with my father.

My own intellect derives wholly and totally from her and my father, and my intellect is all that they left me. There is not one day that passes that I do anything but acknowledge their presence in the development of my thought.

We didn't spend our days getting plastered at Yuppie dinners for 40, by the way.

16. That is not why I am here.
I am here to express my ideas.

I couldn't care less about you personally, although, very clearly I am a big, big, big fan of the way Galileo invented the character of "Simplico." It got him in trouble, but it was delicious trouble.

19. Tell us again how you plan to ensure that nuclear waste can't contaminate
water supplies for the next 100,000 years or so..........

Oh, and tell the Navajo nation again just how inconsequential previous uranium mining has been to their community.........

(crickets chirping)

Oh, and don't forget to call the Navajos illiterate while you're at it.
