Survey Of Australian Business Heads Finds 2% Believe In Integrity Of Their Own Emissions Data - Age
The integrity of emissions data has been thrown into question with only a small number of businesses expressing confidence in their own greenhouse figures.

A PricewaterhouseCoopers survey of chief executives and chief financial officers of over 300 Australian businesses found that only 2% believed the company's recorded emissions levels were of a high quality and would hold up to scrutiny.

Company executives also overwhelmingly want more information, 70% of those surveyed believing they don't know enough about the risks of climate change on their business.

Leading the way in addressing climate change is the resource sector - 28% of resource companies have established a budget to respond to perceived risks compared to 5% of the total sample. Over 75% of businesses have not formally assessed the risk of climate change to their operations.

1. Anecdotal evidence:
My mom's BF/my "stepdad" is a venture capitalist with friends much much wealthier than he is. One of them is a former CEO of some pharma co. (Chiron, I think) - anyway, I was at dinner with them and I remember how the guy bragged about fooling the EPA on some emissions violations by installing an industrial exhaust fan in the roof to dilute the fumes. Fucking scumbag - you can bet that is only just the tip of the iceberg.

Anyway, remember that stuff we still make, like DuPont Yvek housewrap and generics generate enormous amounts of CFC emissions during their manufacture. So much for Montreal, although it has undoubtedly helped.

2. expecting people to police themselves is naive
the only country with a significant
amount of people who would believe
any of this self-police-stuff is the US.

more correct wording, would be to change ...
.>that only 2% believed the<-

to .......
->that only 2% SAY they believed the<--
