Mine came the other day, direct deposit. I applied it to a credit card bill.

SS isnt taxed, so the $250 shouldnt be either.

7. if you make more than a certain amount it is.
because of hubby's income i've always had to pay tax on my SS. i'm sure the $250 will be taxable.

8. Yes, Social Security is taxed.
If you have other income for which you have worked for many years, like a pension or like dividends...then they tax Social Security according to a formula.

It is not pretty when it happens as it has already been taxed once in your paychecks.

I think it was the brainchild of Democrats to do that double taxing.

9. Looks like it was Alan Greenspan's brainchild
initially, the 50% was signed into law under Ronald Reagan, based on the recommendations of Alan Greenspan's commission. In 1993, it was amended for a secondary threshold and signed into law by Clinton. So, everyone had a hand in the pie, so to speak, but Alan Greenspan was the "father".
