Icahn seeks support in case against Steel Partners

BOSTON, Jan 23 (Reuters) - Activist investor Carl Icahn stepped up his battle against Steel Partners on Friday when he urged other investors to join him in opposing the hedge fund firm's recently announced plans to go public.

Icahn sent a four-paragraph-long letter to investors on Friday, seeking to rally support and bring new public attention to a private fight that has simmered for weeks.

The billionaire investor regularly takes large stakes in companies and then agitates for change.

Last week Icahn took his first public step when ACF Industries, the world's leading railcar and railcar components maker which is heavily affiliated with him, sued Steel Partners in Delaware Chancery Court charging that the hedge fund firm had committed fraud.

1. agitates for change my shiny metal ass
The only change he agitates for is the coin that winds up in his pocket when he GUTS the companies he buys into. He's a predator -- one of the first out of the gate when Ronnie Raygun started deregulating everything.

Special place in hell for this a-hole. :grr:

3. I'll root for the devil himself if he's going up against Icahn
I walked the TWA picketlines with my family members way back when he bought and gutted the airline, right after the air traffic controller's fiasco. We all had an inside line to the unions, who were trying to fight back - but had no idea how much this guy just wanted to piece out the airline for profit.

If there is anyone who deserves to lose his shirt AND get spit on when he's lying in the gutter -- it's Icahn.
