5. Alabama is shocking
It appears to be the worst, but a lot of states have seen incomes in the lowest quintile decline since the mid-1990's.

"The average income of the poorest fifth of families decreased by $2,791, from $16,070 to $13,280."

How do people already at the bottom of the economic ladder cope with a 17% income decline?

I took a peek at the PDF (Publish Dem Facts), and I was struck by all the southern red states that are at the top of the list in growing income inequality. You get what you vote for.
