Pat Robertson Has a Wimpy God
http://www.freesqueeze.com/patrobertson.htm

There's a crazy old man on my TV saying crazy things. Pat Robertson claims to be a man of God and to have received a calling to deliver a religious message to the entire world. But his view of God is skewed by his particular brand of conservative politics. He subjugates major tenets of Christianity in order to make a political point.

His God is held back by court decisions and school board elections. Pretty wimpy.

What part of omnipotent do you not understand, Pat?

1. Indeed, Sir, As It Once Was Said Long Ago
"An omnipotent God ought to have no need to go into partnership with state legislatures."

2. Pat's God is also afraid of childrens' books and movies,
and department stores whose employees say "Happy Holidays." What a lame, pathetic God is that, and how shaky must be the faith of those who claim to believe in him if they can't handle such inconsequential things.

3. There is a certain pathology to it...
Their God is weak, impressionable and easily contained.

I wouldn't be too interested in owning a dog that fit that profile.

5. You want shaky faith?
How about that doctrine of biblical literalism? If one part of the bible isn't literally true, then the whole system falls apart? That's some really rock-solid faith you've got there.

8. And yet...
This same God is completely controlled by the results of a school board election in Dover, PA.

Go figure.

who make "God" little.
They would limit Consciousness Without End
to one little corner of the universe.
They make him so vengeful, fear becomes the root of belief.
They make him so bored that he watches our every move.
They make him so vain he must be praised constantly.
They make him so cruel that even the innocent must suffer.
They make him so cryptic that every thing is just "his will"

Little Minds = Little Gods

13. I'll send him a Teletubby for Christmas.
I know it's not the same guy but maybe he'll enjoy having a Tinkywinky stuffed toy. After all wasn't it Jerry Falwell who said that Tinkywinky is a gay icon?

So yes! Let's send a gay icon to Jerry, Pat and James.

Mark.
