Manipulating the troop death toll.

Since it has become obvious that the Iraq troop death toll will reach 1000 during the GOP convention, it occurs to me to ask if one of two things might be happening;

1. The GOP is making sure that it does reach 1000 this week so that the news will be lost in the joyous celebration of American Fascism. They might to this by moving up risky operations that would likely cause 10-20 casualties, or by releasing information on deaths that they have been holding under embargo to release during the distraction.

2. They will do anything they can to NOT have the 1000 mark happen during their Master Race Lovefest, and will hide any deaths this week as happening out of Iraq, or simply misreporting the date of the deaths as having happened some time next week.

Does anybody else think that Bush is slimy enough to do something like this?

if the rapture were a real thing and did occur, most of these goons would be the ones "left behind". And wouldn't they be shocked!

You could be right. It seems when there are no casualties reported for several days the casualties on those days are pretty high when they are eventually reported.

sure and reach this number this week.

6. It won't go to 1000 this week.

Although you might see it over the next two-three weeks. Official death toll is at 975. If current trends continue, we seem to lose just over 2 troops a day. That puts the "100" number at least 2 weeks out. God, this war is evil.

7. Remember the Iraqi Rebels are media savvy...

If they could down a troop ferry helicopter this week to get publicity during the GOP convention, they would.

This is one reason why I believe that it might get to 1000 this week even without official manipulation.

Personally, I want the troop deaths to stop, even if that would look good for W.
