SOTU: Republicans Cheer For terrorist threat
This is MUST SEE TV.

This is the one spontaneous moment of Bush's 2004 State of the Union speech.

The Democrats caught Bush off guard by cheering when he warned that the Patriot act would soon expire. Like me you may have been so pleased by that you missed what happened next. If so take a look:

http://portland.indymedia.org/media/media/2004/01/278833.mov

The little film is from:

http://www.smelternews.com/

A very cool web site with the logo: "Blogging in Multimedia"

You can go to their web site to check it out. It is their top story. However, in order to save the guy's server from excess load. I posted above a direct link to the file that smelternews posted on Indymedia.

Smelternews asks: "Are these guys listening, or do they just cheer puntuation?"

2. Hrm...
I can see how it might be interpreted as that, but most people will likely not try to read that far into it. More like, "they're applauding because he just made a good point".

3. Could they actually be ....
... happy that the terrorist threat is ongoing? They did clap and cheer rather loudly.

They may get perverse pleasure from instilling fear in people. The politics of fear has helped them tremendously.

The Patriot Act can determine what books one checks out or what sites someone may search.

It is surely time that the Act is expanded to register all guns. After all, if you are a law abiding citizen and not doing anything wrong and you have nothing to hide — what do you have to fear?
