Conservatives vow to make gay marriage 2012 issue
By DAVID CRARY and LISA LEFF
The Associated Press

"The president has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging Congress," said Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council. "It is incumbent upon the Republican leadership to respond by intervening to defend DOMA, or they will become complicit in the president's neglect of duty" ...

Brian Brown, president of the conservative National Organization for Marriage, predicted that Obama's decision not to defend the federal DOMA would spur efforts in some of the remaining states to join the ranks of those with constitutional bans ...

3. When will these people LEARN
that you cannot legislate "morality", from drinking (Prohibition), to fornicaton/shacking up (Comstack laws), to birth control (Griswald), to abortion (Roe), to consentual sodomy (Lawrence)?

Life, libery, and the pursuit of happiness, whatever makes YOU happy, regarless of what the RELIGIONS of OTHER may say.

4. Then they're gonna lose. Because they're in the wrong. As they have been on every
single social issue (and economic issue, and environmental issue, and labor issue, etc. etc.) for the last 200 years.

5. I remember when quite a few states
were willing to stain their constitutions with bans on equal marriage in 2004. That didn't work out so well for us. I just hope that eight years has made a difference.

Maybe we'll be lucky and the SCOTUS will get this question decided rightly and out of the way in time for the 2012 elections.
