Portland, OR Local News Coverage of 080601 PDB not too bad tonight
Edited on Sat Apr-10-04 08:44 PM by swag
I've looked at two of the Saturday evening commercial broadcasts here in Portland, OR (KOIN 6 and KGW 8), and the headlines (PDB and Iraq deterioration) are given at least appropriate emphasis if not entirely clueful coverage.

Nevertheless, I am impresssed that these consistently lousy broadcasts seem to have gotten better lately. Certainly the media are "cooperatively herding," and waking up to a proto-groggy state of consciousness about these twin Bush betrayals, but I have to think that at least some of the awakening is a response to continued pressure on the media to do a better job, in light of broadcast and print failures to fulfill the obligations of a "free" press and act as the public's advocate and champion in the face of government deceit and tyranny.

Long may this fountain sputter.

________________ on edit:
I should also point out that KOIN 6 actually compared some phrasing of the memo with Rice's public testimony in a way that clearly indicates that Rice with either woefully uninformed about the memo (plausible deniability? Was she even "in the loop" on the PDB?) or lying under oath which, last time I checked, was a rather serious crime.
