How to deal with the media in the election campaign??? Given that the corporate media
are acting as an "unindicted" part of the McCain campaign, how do people suggest it be fought?

We cannot fight them on their "home court" because they control that arena. Stories that should be covered (Sturgis, trollop/cunt-gate, five-plane "Crash", Keating, his psychotic temper, etc., etc., etc.) are ignored or spun as a positive. Any criticism of Obama, whether factual or not, is given 24/7 coverage for weeks.

Some say that deluging the media outlets with demands (requests, pleas) for fairness are the way to go. But that has had absolutely no effect in the past and will not work now.

Some say that boycotting any media outlet that does not adhere to journalistic standards would work. But we know that the Dems crave the bright lights too much to challenge Faux or ABC or the NY Times or any of them.

Some say the the web will be our savior because it cannot be controlled. Maybe one day, but not this day (thanks Aragorn). The traditional (newspapers and TV) and the perverted (hate radio) are still the dominant vehicle through which the vast majority of Americans get their "news."

So. What do we do?

1. Three Ways Really
First, is old school. Through grass roots, on the ground organizing. The GOP has actually beat the Democrats at this game through the exploitation of Evangelical Christians and by focusing on moral issues, rather than the social justice passages of Christianity dealing with the poor. This year presents a unique opportunity, since the primaries showed that Obama does have a pretty good knack in terms of on the ground organization. Democrats should at least give, but even better, they should try to convince people on a one to one basis in a non-confrontational way to vote for Obama. This may ultimately prove more effective than a mass media ad.

Second, is the use of alternative media. The Paris Hilton video and the Obama girl videos showed that alternative media can drive the debate. It is risky, but with humor and cleverness, and some media skills, anyone could drive the debate for a newscycle. For example, a youtube with John McCain as Robert Palmer surrounding by an army of Cindy McCain, blonde lookalikes/GOP talking heads.

Third, is fight the good fight in the MSM. We may never win it, because the MSM is biased, but keep up the fight and keep up the pressure and attacks on McCain. Yes, you will be ignored for the most part, but Big Media is going to at least try to convince most Americans that they are impartial, so they will at least go through the motions of being fair, even as they spin the news against the Democrats.
