Dean first presidential hopeful to qualify for Utah Demos' primary
Howard Dean is the first presidential candidate to qualify for the Utah Democratic Party's unofficial primary election planned in February.

"It shows he's committed to Utah and the campaign is very organized," said Peter Corroon, coordinator of Dean's Utah campaign and a cousin of the former Vermont governor.

Democrats have not won Utah's electoral votes since 1964, when Lyndon B. Johnson beat Barry Goldwater.

But Corroon on Wednesday said the campaign is ignoring no state, no matter how Republican.
