1. Hot Damn! Did you hear that Republican Special Forces Recruit?
How on earth can anyone doubt Dean's ability to appeal to everyone after listening to that?

2. Did anyone else worry about Dean's lack of security?
It seemed like he was trying to press the flesh of every New Yorker wanting a piece of him. The only problem, that much excitement in the crowd can make for great speeches, but for dangerous one on one time.

I am getting tired of hearing these guys repeat the same lines over and over, but not taking advantage of the energy of the crowd. He should of put together a special speech for that particular event, rather than repeating his same lines about Vermont and what he did as Governor. Also getting a crowd excited is great, but in a crowd that large..I thought Dean was hurting and even endangering himself by personally thanking the crowd, rather than giving them a powerful speech which they would always remember.

3. I was a little concerned, yes.
My earliest memories are of RFK's funeral and, later, Wallace's assassination attempt.

However, I'm not as down on his speech as you are. The man's pretty damn tired after his cross-country jaunt. I can imagine he was relying pretty heavily on his standard lines. I still saw a lot of fire in Dean and in the crowd.

10,000 people...wow.

4. True...
I was impressed by the energy and excitment of the crowd.

I just think Dean could make NY city his primary base when hitting the right themes that New Yorkers are interested in. Doctor King or Robert Kennedy would have seen this crowd as a rare opportunity to say something new and inspiring.

I think Dean is the best qualified among the candidates to be President, but he still has a way to go as a candidate. He must remember that he is now considered a likely frontrunner..not one of the underdogs, and must adjust his approach in the campaign to take this into account.
