A modest proposal
I posted this suggestion last year and I believe maybe the time is more ripe for it to be enacted:
Since the beginning of Bush's disastrous war the only thing thatwe as Americans have been asked to do is to shop. This has been the only sacrifice(?)that Bush asked while our countrymen die.
What I propose is perfectly legal and will get tremendous notice immediately:
START DRIVING 55 MPH.
This will save gas and will send a message to others that you care enough not to waste oil as our troops die for it. Put a small sign in your window like: I drive 55 to get us out of IRAQ.
I have been driving 55 since the war started. I get fingered etc. People will notice clogged roads. And it is the speed limit on primary highways.

1. Maybe if peoples' day is slightly disrupted they will give some thought
to what it takes to get that gas.
