Activists unite! Why make change so difficult?
The forums on DU discuss multitudes of problems and encourage readers to do something. This activist forum has requests to sign petitions, call or write public officials, gather for marches, etc.etc.etc. When public officials can choose to ignore you, or pacify you with words and no action, you are not participating in democracy. You are spinning your metaphorical wheels.

You know the problems we have in this country; you've been writing about them. But you ignore the real solution; a solution that handles all those problems in one swipe. The solution is to give yourselves legislative power, in other words formalizing democracy!

Democracy is “government by the people”. We have government by an elected minority. And our elective choices are carefully screened before we hear or see much of them – no matter the party affiliation. The corporate media makes sure of that.

But our Constitution reserves sovereignty to the people, not our elected representatives. We can have democracy without much effort if we decide to just do it! All we need to do is say so by our votes. Don't expect our corporate controlled government to offer it to us though, through an official election. It won't happen. We must run our own election for democracy. Former Democratic Senator Mike Gravel is making it easy for us. He has formed a group that has put together a formalized law and constitutional amendment that we can vote for. Much work has been put into the design of this legislation to ease the people's law making power. It is called the National Initiative for Democracy.

I hope you will join with me in deciding we have had enough of this corrupt government system and vote for democracy. You can vote at the website. And then please support it with at least a one dollar donation to keep the ball rolling, and become an activist for real democracy by informing others about this initiative and get them to vote and support it.

Democracy is still possible in America! It's not too late - YET!
