Tent U activists reiterate demands (UC Santa Cruz)
By JONDI GUMZ
Sentinel staff writer

SANTA CRUZ — Students involved in the recent "Tent University" protest at UC Santa Cruz plan a 1 p.m. rally today to reiterate their demands for a change in campus priorities.

The rally, at Quarry Plaza outside the Bay Tree Bookstore on campus, will honor UCSC clerical worker Pat True, who went on a hunger strike to demand information on who ordered the police action against student protesters. <snip>

They said <Chancellor> Denton apologized for the "pain compliance" tactics police used as they arrested 19 students at the Tent University protest for trespassing April 18. The apology came last week when students, faculty, administrators and community members met to talk about the arrests. <snip>

Tent University spokesman Eric Edelman said Santa Cruz students are "proud to be part of a nationwide movement to point out the misplaced priorities of our educational institutions" and will work "with all other groups fighting for change in this area."
