In memory of Steve Jobs - post your favorite Apple Product ever
For me, without a doubt it's my Ipod Classic 160.

I was one of those people so into her music that I would have to bring it ALL with me whenever I traveled. Thankfully when I got my first car it had a cassette deck so I would bring with me my cassette carrying cases filled with cassettes (I think each held like 48). Fortunately CDs came out and I migrated to CDs and I would bring with me a 300 CD case filled with CDs. See the thing for me is I never know what music I have the mood to listen to and I needed them all there with me else I felt like I forgot the one CD that I wanted to hear that day.

When I got my first MP3 player (it was a Sony 4 gig stick) I loved it but I couldn't get all my music on it which made me sad. So one day when I was at Sears I saw an 80g and I feel in love with Apple right there on the spot. I was able to carry around all my music on one small hand held device that I could toss into my purse. I had that thing for almost 2 years until the unfortunately Pineapple Juice incident of 2008. Fortunately for me, a coworker had a 160 he wanted to sell for $150 so I jumped on that puppy. Oh and would you believe I sold the old one for $75. A coworker was able to clean out the pineapple juice and replace the battery. He really bought it for all the music on it but ultimately kept it since it he was able to get it to work.

Early this year I though my 160 died (this is now 2011) so I bought a brand new one and would you believe it - I was able to get the old one to work again. My best friend's daughter holds on to it - she loves all the classics on it but she is only allowed to listen to it at the house.

So now I have 2 Ipod 160s (I still own the other one at my friend's house), a Nano 4 shuffle, a regular shuffle (didn't like that), an old Iphone3 and my Iphone 4

Steve Jobs revolutionized the world of music for me. Rest in Peace Steve Jobs!

7. I love my iPhone4. And my iPad2.
If I had to choose ... I guess I'd say ... I'm not giving up my iPhone! FaceTime ROCKS!!

Take that, Android geeks!

There wouldn't even BE an Android if Jobs hadn't invented the iPhone.

Copycats. Sigh.

I don't have a Mac, but I wish I did.

I haven't really kept up with technology. I still don't have a cell.
I did mac and pc support while I was in grad school and for a short time afterwards.

11. My MacBook!
I had iPods for years before, and enjoyed them (I love music), but when I made the switch from PC to Mac a few years ago, I realized that it was possible to have a computer that actually works! Only then did I understand what a complete, fetid, steaming pile of shit Micro$oft really is.

Thanks, Steve. I spend 80% less time on a computer than I once did, and get at least 50% more accomplished.

RIP

12. iPod Touch
I love every feature about the iPhone. Every feature except one, that is.

The phone part.

Don't get me wrong. I'm sure it's a great phone and all. But there are several reasons why an iPhone just isn't ideal for me.

But my iPod Touch does all the cool stuff I would want an iPhone to do.

Neatest little gadget ever.

34. love my touch as well.
I remember when the Ipad first came out, some wag criticized it as being "just a big I Touch", and I was like, yeah, so... what's the problem with a big touch?

I did spring for an I Pad, and it is, indeed, very, very cool

16. The Macintosh SE
Edited on Thu Oct-06-11 05:10 PM by Rob H.
It was the first Mac model I ever used way back in 1989, and I'm still earning a living using its descendants all these years later. Small, approachable, and even "friendly" in its own way, it made me want to use a computer to create and explore. Considering that I didn't care about them one way or the other before that, I think that was quite a feat.

Edited on Thu Oct-06-11 07:04 PM by Tikki
I was a 40 something at University struggling to write my papers on an
old electric typewriter. One of my Professors must have known this
and pointed out an advertisement from the UBookstore for a special
deal on computers with printers.

I asked him which one would be the easiest to learn for processing my papers...
...he suggested the Apple package and it's been Apple all the way since.

So grateful for the ease of use and the little downtime..

21. My 84 128k Mac
When I got it only had single side disk drive. Unless you wanted to do the disk shuffle you had to fit the program you wanted to run and os on the same disk. Later upgraded to whole 512k and double sided drive. Still works.

Use a Macbook pro now.

22. I have had three different models of Apple laptops at work.
Don't know the model numbers.... but they had their good and bad points. I never thought I would get used to the first one, but I did. Last year, I had three different ones because they kept dying. I have only had the current one since Sept. I would consider buying one for myself, but they are too expensive.

I don't have any iPods, iPads, iPhones, etc.

25. My first computer was an Apple II
I splurged - got TWO floppy drives. Big advantage, not only could I run the program (all 360K worth) on one floppy, I could save/use the data on the second. AND the two drives put the monitor at a convenient height.

By the time I was ready to replace the Apple II, the Macintosh was out - over $3600 without programs. Instead I bought an XT clone Packard Bell for $1500 and then found share ware programs to do what I needed - another $200-300. I did not have decent graphics, but then if I had bought the Mac, I could never have afforded to buy graphic software anyway.

I was so outraged at the jacked up price of the Macintosh and how Apple cut off clone manufacturers and outside access to code so other companies could write software for Apple products, I have never bought another Apple product since.

31. The Ipod my mother gave me
The last Christmas present she got me before she died. It took me an unforgivably looong while to appreciate it -I'm quite slow on modern technology sometimes -but it gave me a great deal of comfort and relaxation during some very stressful times as my mother was dying the following year

Also my seperate Itunes collection, which has gotten me through some very difficult times as well

RIP Steve Jobs. You did good and your gadgets have helped me immensely during some very difficult times in my life. Thank you so much

It prints on paper up to 13 x 20 inches. No printer, before or since, did that--they were 11x17, 12x18 or some other smaller measurement. When you NEED to see the bleeds on a printer's spread, ain't nothin' better.

38. System 8.6
The optimum balance between functionality and complexity.

System 9 teetered over the line into complexity and bloat. As for OSX ... I've used it at work and have never been remotely tempted to purchase my own copy. UNIX is great for my research needs (I've used UNIX long before OSX) but using it for a home computer OS is just plain bughouse crazy. OSX conceded everything to the programmers' mindset at the expense of the end users'.

Eventually, I'll have to buy OSX, just to pull data off of some hard drives. But I'll be using it because it's necessary, not because it's a pleasure to work with (it's not).
