Just drove across Alligator Alley and saw a HUGE snake on the road.

I just got done for the day and am in Fort Myers, having just driven across the portion of I 75 known as Alligator Alley.

About 15 miles from the Western end, I saw a big ass snake, stretched across the breakdown lane. Since I know that lane is about 9 feet wide at least, and the snake was ALL the way across it, he was close to a ten footer.

I passed him doing 70 so I just caught sight of him in my headlights as I passed, but he was big, at least as big around as my lower leg.

First one of those I've seen in Florida.

If I had seen it 5 seconds earlier, I would have run it over.

Damned pest and their damned stupid pest (pet?) owners.

Recently, police investigated a car in the ditch and inside was a naked man wrapped up by a big snake. Apparently, when the snake wrapped up around him, he lost control of the car and then went into the ditch.

One of those poor creatures that somebody thought would make a cool pet, but realized it wasn't, and released it on the side of the road somewhere to reproduce and invade the 'Glades?

And yes, as I said, had I seen it just a few seconds earlier, I would have hit it with all 18 wheels.
