Anyone having problems with the fruits and veggies freshness?

I have organic veggies and fruits delivered (wow, both are over ripe) I buy from the supermarket the samething. I am getting disgusted with fruits and veggies and yes, those that are homegrown.

2. Yes, it's been difficult to catch them fresh. The organic hold up better, but have to eat 'em ASAP

Or I lose my money. It keeps my compost bucket happy...

4. The term Organic is not at all regulated and only means they are charging you more....

...they probably aren't TRULY organic.

5. Yes, I am aware, thanks for those who don't know. I can tell more by taste and smell.

We're more regulated up here. Oregon Tilth and Washington state do inspect and I know a number of growers personally and have visited them. Their main threat to their label are those in their region who have gone over to GMO. We have that good old nanny state mentality here, we regulate.

It's a ripoff, as that term is not at all regulated. Just FYI. I buy grapes at Homeland. They are fantastic. They mix green and red in a container, pre-cleaned, ready to eat.

6. It's hit or miss.

With stone fruit, they sell it hard as a rock and it gets rotten in two days. It's really hard to hit it just right!

7. it is very hard to get flavorful, ripe fruit

I spose the answer is to buy from the farmers market but even there something can be awry. Two weeks ago I bought two boxes of strawberries at market. Looked good, smelled good. But within an hour of buying them, they had sort of decomposed. By suppertime many had turned useless.

I'm having trouble getting good cantaloupe this year. Ripe, but just no flavor!

15. I noticed the same thing last year with peaches and nectarines - they don't

ripen they just go from hard to bad.

8. 1/2 a bag of oranges will be rotten, Strawberries are past-ripe...

potatoes are rotten in the bag...
Yeah, produce quality has been in the toilet the last month or so.

9. We live in apple country, and I've noticed most supermarket apples this year are mealy.

They look good on the outside and are mush on the inside.

lately the bananas I've been getting are....off - they're not right at all, and same with cherries

They are all dampish and rot pretty quick.
