Anyone have a Hyundai Elantra?
Looking into getting one because the mpg is hard to beat, 40 plus on the highway. But what about the quality and durability of the car?

2. My husband has one and is really happy with it
very good car for the price. He's only had it one year so can't really comment on durability but so far, it's working out great.

4. Had one. Traded it in after 18 months.
Gas mileage was terrible in the city. Got better mileage in my Cavalier. I think it was an '03. Got a Yaris- wonderful little car.

8. It had great features, but could not abide the gas mileage.
Cruise control, power everything, sun roof....just bad mileage. And in '06...had to trade up.

6. The 2011 Elantra is fantastic.
Previous models, not so much. The prior generation was decent, but I'd recommend a number of other compacts above it (Focus, Civic, Mazda3 to name a few). The current Elantra is pretty hard to beat. Not only does it have great fuel economy, but the level of fit and finish and standard equipment is pretty crazy for what you pay. The interior has been described as "Lexus-like" by many an auto review magazine and reliability has been up there with the Japanese for a few years now. I can hardly imagine you'd regret your purchase if you picked up a 2011.

9. My daughter has an '07
She has put well over 100,000 miles on it without any trouble. She keeps up with oil changes and tires, and it's completely trouble free.

I drove it recently. Even over 100K miles, it is quiet and tight. Feels like driving a Lexus, except you don't have to be an asshat to do so.

10. The TDI Jetta, 50MPG highway, 39 town and German . What more could a person want?
Edited on Tue Jul-12-11 10:42 PM by JonTheGreat
Or at least that is what I've gotten after owning one for 9 years and driving 289,000 Miles in.

Best Car ever. I've kept a log book of every fill up and my exact figures are 50.283 Highway (I'm not an aggressive drive so it helps) and 38.937 town.

The money I've saved is crazy. The new TDI's are awesome too.
